“Take care of your body and listen to it,” the country singer said
Carly Pearce revealed she’s been having some health problems involving her heart.
On May 30, the 34-year-old country singer posted a candid video on Instagram sharing an update on her health and how it will impact her upcoming performances.
“I have always been transparent and honest about every part of my life so I feel like this deserves the same honesty,” Pearce began. “You guys know that I’ve been dealing with some health issues and through that, I have developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart issue.”
Pericarditis is swelling and irritation of the thin, sac-like tissue surrounding the heart, according to the Mayo Clinic. It causes sharp chest pain, which could spread to the shoulders and neck.
Other symptoms include fatigue, coughing, swelling of the legs or feet, low-grade fever, shortness of breath and heart palpitations.
“I’ve been working with doctors and talking to my cardiologist,” Pearce said. “I still want to be out on the road, it’s really important to me but we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I’m healing to alter my shows a little bit.”

The Grammy winner is currently on the road with Tim McGraw for his “Standing Room Only Tour.”
“So if my shows look a little different, just know it’s because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now,” she continued. “That doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be completely fine, it just means that right now I’ve got to really take this seriously.”
Pearce — whose new album hummingbird will be released on June 7 — asked her fans who plan to attend her shows to give her “a little bit of grace” as she navigates the heart condition.
The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer then encouraged her followers to stay on top of their health.
“I’m a young healthy person that really watches what I eat and exercises and this happened to me,” she said. “So I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it and just know that if it’s trying to tell you something it’s gonna tell you.”
Country singer-songwriter Carly Pearce sits down with Kelleigh Bannen on Today’s Country Radio on Apple Music Country to talk about her new album ‘hummingbird.’ She talks about having something to prove on the new album, moving on from her very public divorce with fellow country star Michael Ray, and shares a message for all the single ladies.

Carly Pearce Talks To Apple Music About Releasing Her Previous Album ’29: Written In Stone’ During A Time When Her Relationship Status Was In The Spotlight…
I wrote that album under the impression that it was never going to be released. And what I mean by that is I knew that I had to write about what was going on. I had lost my producer. Obviously, I was going through a very public divorce. I needed to get that off my chest, but I did not think that that was commercially what would fit into the fences of our genre. So when it came out for the first time, I felt like people were like, “Oh, she’s really writing about her life.”
Carly Pearce Talks To Apple Music About How Her New Album ‘hummingbird’ Isn’t Full Of Songs About Her Divorce With Fellow Country Star Michael Ray…
These songs are not all reflective of that relationship. I didn’t want to be defined by that because I have moved on. And you carry pieces of people and experiences with you, but I’m not defined by that. And I was scared because there’s so much weight that went with that, good and bad. And so it was like when I started writing, I felt like I had something to prove, that I was more than that.
Carly Pearce Talks To Apple Music About Her New Song “Truck On Fire”…
I wrote this with Charles Kelley of Lady A and Justin Ebach and it was so fun. I feel like sad songs and sass have always been two things that I’ve really gravitated towards and I got to really let loose on this album with that. I really wanted to write something that just gave girls an anthem to just feel powerful. And don’t we all have all these crazy dreams in our head of burning down the thing that said human that hurt us loves the most.
