No matter who you are, there’s nothing like having a pet dog to come home to. Even the biggest celebrities in the world still rely on their dog’s love.

Now, one beloved actor has announced he has a new pet dog, and fans are loving the adorable photo of the two of them together.

Everybody loves Michael J. Fox. From his iconic performance as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy to his incredible work raising money for Parkinson’s research, he’s one of the most beloved and admired stars in the world.

He also loves dogs — and recently announced on social media that he has a new best friend.

“Hey Blue, welcome to your new home!” the actor wrote on Instagram, showing off his adorable puppy.

Many of Fox’s followers, including celebrities like Jennifer Grey and Juliana Margulies, commented on the post and congratulated Fox on his new dog.

“Oh my gosh!!! So cute,” wrote Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore.

Many people also pointed out that Blue looks a lot like Einstein, Doc Brown’s time-traveling pet dog in Back to the Future:

Fox previously owned a dog named Gus, who was very important to him. The actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the 1990s, and said the dog was a source of love and support throughout his health battles.

“Your instinct when you have a chronic illness is to sometimes isolate and make your world as small as possible so you don’t have much to deal with, but a dog will open you up,” he told CBS News as part of their special The Pet Project.

He said his dog was especially crucial to him in 2018, when he underwent a surgery to have a tumor removed from his spine.

“He kind of circles the wheelchair with this low kind of woof woof, woof woof, and sat in front of the wheelchair right in front of me, and looked at me, and I said, ‘It’s going to be okay.’”

Sadly, Gus died in 2021 at the age of 12. Fox remembered his beloved pet as a “great dog and loyal friend.”

It’s always heartbreaking when a beloved dog like that passes away, and nothing can really take their place, but we’re glad to see that Fox has opened up his heart to another dog.

We’re sure that Blue will also be a source of comfort and companionship for him through thick and thin.

We’re so glad Michael J. Fox has a new dog! They are adorable together and we know Blue will bring him a lot of happiness.

Writer Ali Wentworth and Julianne Moore, an actress, were even among the commentators. They wrote that they can’t wait to meet Blue. Tracy Pollan, the actor’s wife, shared a clip of Blue having fun with another dog captioning it with “Best Friends”.

Fox shared that they decided to have Blue after 2 years of losing Gus, their dog, who had a great role in supporting him with Parkinson’s disease.

The Hollywood star shared online that he was not the one who rescued Gus, but Gus rescued him. We hope that Gus will rest in peace, and Blue have a great life in his new home. Watch the video below.

Michael J. Fox says he became an alcoholic, hid Parkinson’s diagnosis: ‘There’s no way out’

The fastest-growing neurodegenerative condition in the U.S., Parkinson’s is an incurable brain disorder, a progressive disease “that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination,” according to the National Institute on Aging.

Michael J. Fox: Biography, Actor, Parkinson's Philanthropist

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when he was 29 and publicly shared the news seven years later, in 1998.

The “Spin City” actor has sustained injuries in recent years, including breaking his upper arm while recovering from a risky spinal surgery to remove a noncancerous tumor in 2018.

“I was lying on the floor in my kitchen with a shattered arm waiting for the ambulance to show up,” Fox told USA TODAY in 2020. “I kind of went, ‘What an idiot. All this time you’ve been telling everybody to be optimistic, chin-up, and you’re miserable now. There’s nothing but pain and regret. There’s no way to put a shine on this.’”

The accident kicks off Fox’s 2020 book, “No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality,” in which the actor goes on to detail his harrowing recovery from spinal surgery, insights from his battle with Parkinson’s disease and his return to positivity after, quite literally, falling into despair.

“That was a real breakthrough moment for me, because I realized that I’ve been selling that optimism to people for so long,” he told USA TODAY at the time. “I believe it’s true to my core, but it struck me that at that point I questioned it, and I questioned it really severely. And so the rest of the book is this journey through finding my way back with gratitude. And I think gratitude is what makes optimism sustainable.”
