About The Song
– This breakup ballad was written by Roxette’s instrumentalist, Per Gessle. Despite the somber lyric (“It must have been love, but it’s over now”), the song proved very pleasing to the ear and became a huge hit.
– When released for the first time in December of 1987, this song was titled “It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken Hearted)”. This version was included on the re-release of their 1986 album “Pearls of Passion” in 1997.
– An edited version of “It Must Have Been Love” (“Christmas day” has been changed to “winter’s day”) was featured in the 1990 film “Pretty Woman” and was included on the film’s soundtrack. This version became Roxette’s third number-one hit in the USA.

Lyric
Lay a whisper on my pillow
Leave the winter on the ground
I wake up lonely, there’s air of silence
In the bedroom and all aroundTouch me now, I close my eyes and dream awayIt must have been love but it’s over now
It must have been good but I lost it somehow
It must have been love but it’s over now
From the moment we touched, ’til the time had run outMake-believing we’re together
That I’m sheltered by your heart
But in and outside I’ve turned to water
Like a teardrop in your palmAnd it’s a hard winter’s day, I dream awayIt must have been love but it’s over now
It was all that I wanted, now I’m living without
It must have been love but it’s over now
It’s where the water flows, it’s where the wind blowsIt must have been love but it’s over now
It must have been good but I lost it somehow
It must have been love but it’s over now
From the moment we touched, ’til the time had run outYeah, it must have been love but it’s over now
It was all that I wanted, now I’m living without
It must have been love but it’s over now
It’s where the water flows, it’s where the wind blows(Must have been love but it’s over now)
(Must have been love but it’s over now)
